Mifune IS the Greatest Actor Who Ever Lived!

I became a devotee of Mifune movies and Mifune, in general, about a year ago. It happened quite by accident. I subscribe to a satellite package which shows many Japanese and Chinese films. As I was channel hopping one day, I came upon a Mifune movie, and, even though it was subtitled (which in the past had big a huge turn-off) I found myself being sucked into the story. I believe it was Sanjuro. After seeing it, I began searching for Mifune/Kurosawa movies. Mifune did his best work with Kurosawa, although he won major awards for roughly half the movies in which he appeared. Quite an accomplishment! America has now or ever had a star of Mifune's talent and brilliance. He says so much with his eyes and subtle gestures. He was as impressive at age 75 in Picture Bride (in which he made an all too brief appearance) as he was in his early samurai films. Drunken Angel, Mifune's first Kurosawa movie, reveals the intensity he will bring to each of his ensuing roles. In fact, his character is so impressive, so intense that the camera can barely contain. He literally explodes on the screen. I own all of Mifune's Kurosawa movies and a large portion of the movies he made after his partnership with Kurosawa ended in 1965. Many of his movies are evidently lost and unobtainable. Each one is a treasure. Each one reinforces your belief that he was, indeed, the greatest actor who ever lived!
